Description

The project aims at reducing greenhouse gas emissions of Nepal and creating employment, revenues, good health, well-being and foster gender equality in the local communities in Sarlahi and Mahottari districts of Nepal. The project will establish a pellet factory, which will produce 20000 tons of pellets annually from renewable biomass. Objective

1) Production and sales of 20 000 tons of biomass/wood pellets
• Around 200 new jobs (permanent and seasonal) are created for local people in raw material collection, production and marketing of pellets
• Emission reduction of around 28000 tonnes of CO₂e
• EURO 10000 annual income for local communities
• 15000 tonnes of coal or firewood are replaced by pellets

Results

The project has introduced manufacturing of densified biomass pellets from shrubs in Nepal. A pellet factory was established and the biomass supply chain was set up, providing more than 200 jobs for local people.
