Description

The project has the overall objective to demonstrate the use of products based on beneficial microorganisms as a mean to achieve sustainable agricultural development in Bolivia. By the promotion of products containing beneficial microorganisms (i.e. lactic acid bacteria) and the production of bio-fertilizer, the project will assist Bolivian smallholder farmers, to mitigate GHG emissions, build resilience to climate change and develop economically viable agribusiness.

Objective

Project's expected key objectives are:

• Implementation of probiotic supplement in dairy cattle feeding, contributing to a reduced production of methane from enteric fermentation and improved productivity and health of the cattle, generating increased income from the milk sale of smallholder dairy producers.

• New manure management system that utilises the manure to produce organic fertiliser with the application of a bio-stimulant, causing reduced GHG emission from...

Results

Results after the completed projects:

- 3 green business concepts have been successfully tested.
- 1 partnership agreement has been signed between Biosa and BioTop.
- A total of 1200 l Mother culture were produced and delivered from Biosa to BioTop.
- The product registration and permit to produce in Bolivia by SENASAG was archived.
- Semi-automated installations to produce Biotic and Biobull have been established.
